Is the DOE poised to crown an ATR King?

Is the DOE about to appoint an executive to oversee the Absent Teacher Reserve?  An anonymous commentor to NYCATR, and an email correspondent, both  report that today they met a man named Ralph Granieri (sp.?) who said that he will become the King of the ATR.

Does anyone know who this fellow is?  Is there any truth to this rumor?

  2. The UFT should then appoint a King Rubber Room ATR survivor, one who was in the RR then became an ATR whose combined years make them the King to speak on behalf of all ATR's citywide.

  4. I hope not, he is a loser who should have been fired long ago. I know for a fact of many illegal actions that he has done, but he always gets away with it. I have notified so many people but no one cares.

  5. I just spent a week from HELL at Automotive HS. The article in the Daily News on Wednesday, November 9, mentioned the school and how terrible it was. She called it as it is, I have never experienced such disrespect from students as well as "fellow teachers" Being told to use the students bathroom by a young teacher who was too lazy to help open the faculty was beyond belief, being told to suck a kids d---k, I was told I was going to get slapped, shut the "F" up you old lady, referred to as a whitey and they know why I was there for the week that's why they don't have to listen to me. The best was when the principal came in to "talk" to the student's about the article and how angry they should be that someone had the nerve to write bad things about the school. She reminded them of how wonderful they are and how proud she is of them. After she left I was ripped into as not being a "REAL TEACHER" for about 5 minutes, that I suck and to shut the "F" up and get out.
Here is a helpful hint, If you are sent there, do yourself a favor and call out.

  6. OMG that is terrible! You should have let the kid slap you..then you could have gone out on leave...seriously though what a shame! Why did they even bother talking to you? I usually just sit with a book and unless they are killing each other leave them alone lol

  9. just another day at some of nyc's finest. nobody outside the system believes this stuff and really the top brass of the DoE will not do anything to stop it as long as their kids don't have to go to "these" schools. after all, let's just call it babysitting before they hit the streets. can't discipline a child when they verbally assault you, so please don't take it personally, liberals and other bleeding heart experts and politicians i dare say, have enabled children to mouth off at adults without impunity...you know it would damage their overblown self-esteem. i haven't met one teacher in twenty years who disagrees that we have lost authority over some students.
